Recent economic events that started in the United States but are occurring globally have caused coal markets to decline both in price and volume. Bedrock has recently engaged a general management consulting firm to analyze its portfolio in order to determine how it can optimize its mining assets to operate most profitably. In this exercise, students are given questions to answer and provided with a data set to facilitate their analysis.
